Les Halles—New Shelter for a New Market

The Halls used to be a huge fruit and meat market, and was called the "belly of Paris" by Emile Zola. Today, it has become one of the biggest underground (the Forum des Halles) and outdoor clothes shopping areas in the French capital, attracting a young and mixed clientele.
