San Francisco is beautiful and still
obviously pulsing with natural energy. Looking at the
city from afar, one is always conscious of the rhythms of
the underlying hills and the surrounding waters. This is
a young city that has already been completely rebuilt over
its brief life. It sits at the bottom of Northern California
with its lush vegetation and abundant waters. It is a gateway
and a promise.
